AISC - Since 2010

AISC-Certified Steel Fabrication Since 2010
Proven Quality. Independently Audited. Built for Infrastructure.

Midwest Fence Corporation has maintained AISC certification since 2010, reflecting more than 15 years of commitment to quality, consistency, documentation, and accountability in steel fabrication.

AISC certification is more than a designation. It requires certified fabricators to maintain a documented Quality Management System and successfully complete ongoing audits to verify that those procedures are being followed.

What AISC Certification Means

The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) certification program evaluates the systems a fabricator uses to control quality throughout the fabrication process.

This includes areas such as:

  • Material identification and traceability

  • Fabrication and welding procedures

  • Inspection and testing

  • Employee qualifications and training

  • Documentation and recordkeeping

  • Nonconformance and corrective action

  • Internal quality reviews

The focus is not simply on inspecting finished steel. The goal is to establish procedures that help prevent errors and consistently produce work that meets project specifications.

Rigorous, Ongoing Audits

AISC certification must be maintained. Certified fabricators are subject to annual audits that review their Quality Management System, procedures, records, personnel, and fabrication practices. When deficiencies are identified, corrective action must be documented and completed. Midwest Fence has successfully maintained its AISC certification since first becoming certified as a Bridge Component Facility in 2010. That represents more than a decade of audits, process reviews, employee training, documentation, and continuous improvement.

Why It Matters for Public Works and Infrastructure

Highway, bridge, transportation, municipal, and other public projects often have strict fabrication and quality requirements. AISC certification is used by owners, engineers, government agencies, and general contractors as an established benchmark for steel fabrication quality. On projects where AISC certification is specified, it helps demonstrate that the fabricator has established systems in place to meet those requirements.

Our AISC-certified fabrication capabilities support work involving:

  • Bridge rail and highway components

  • Architectural and pedestrian railings

  • Parapets and barrier systems

  • Structural frames and embedded steel

  • Custom fence panels and post systems

  • Gates and security systems

  • Specialty steel and aluminum fabrication

Our work supports IDOT, Illinois Tollway, municipal, commercial, industrial, and other infrastructure projects throughout Illinois.

In-House Capability from Design Through Fabrication

Our Chicago fabrication facility combines AISC-certified quality systems with the people and resources required to execute complex, specification-driven work.

Midwest Fence operates an in-house CAD and detailing team that works with contractors, architects, and engineers to coordinate fabrication requirements and bring project designs into production.

Our experienced union welders and fabricators have the equipment, shop capacity, and manpower to handle everything from individual custom components to large-scale railing, barrier, fencing, and infrastructure systems.

Keeping these capabilities in-house gives us greater control over quality, coordination, documentation, and project schedules.

Proven on Illinois Infrastructure

Our fabrication work can be found throughout the Chicago region and across Illinois.

Projects such as Meacham Road over I-90 in Schaumburg, where Midwest Fence fabricated and installed custom parapet and decorative rail elements, demonstrate how our fabrication capabilities translate to complex, real-world infrastructure work.

From highway and bridge components to municipal streetscapes, railings, barriers, and specialty steel systems, our team is equipped for projects where precision and specification compliance matter.

More Than a Certification

Midwest Fence has been serving the Chicago construction industry since 1947 and has maintained AISC certification since 2010.

That combination of fabrication experience and independently audited quality systems allows us to provide general contractors, agencies, engineers, and project owners with something that matters on demanding projects:

Quality that is controlled, documented, traceable, and built into the process.
